Zoom out, Zoom in...Just a Hawk is all I saw yesterday.

I took a bike ride out and around yesterday late afternoon. It was still pretty hot, so I didn't go to far. Only thing I saw was this hawk in the field on a half dead elm tree, most likely keeping an eye out for a stray prairie dog or unsuspecting bull snake to fill it's belly on.

They're pretty remarkable, considering the size of it. That super zoom is one of the big reasons I bought it.

Love the Raptors!

There's a good variety of raptors found around here and I've seen and photographed quite a few different species. I'm old enough to remember the days they used the pesticide DDT. By the time they realize the effects on Raptors of that harmful chemical, it was a rare site to see any birds of prey of any kind.
