It's a real winter that's for sure. Lots of cold, snow and freezing rain.

Nah, just here as a civie doing my divemaster. Lots of cool sites, for sure. Still, can't wait to dive up North again!

I have lots of freinds that have tons of dive time in Cyprus, lots of history there that's for sure.

Give me a shout when you get back in this area and we will get you out for a few dives.

Just as a side note one of my diving buddies from years ago was shot in the head when he was in Cyprus with the Airborne Regiment back in 74. Ole' Mike was as tough as they come, the bullet hit the temple of his helmet and deflected downward into his mouth, he spit out 5 teeth and the bullet, true story. He still has the helmet with his blood still on it and the bullet he had incased in plastic with a brass plague with the date he got shot on it. Things were a little different in Cyprus back then hope you have a great time there and don't get shot, LOL.

I've been here in South Berwick for the better part of 25 years now., I do a ton of diving in Portsmouth,NH all around the state, NH, Maine, Mass, Conn... found some nice stuff over the years. I'll be trying to spend more free time underwater hunting glass this year, so if you get down this way, give some advanced notice I'll take you out.

Hi there SMD, when I said North Berwick I ment really North.....like in Berwick,NS. I was in Portsmouth NH last summer but couldn't get in the water. Sure looked good though, I know there are some nice bottles and artifacts just waiting for me to come back and take them to their new home.
When I get a chance to make it back I will let you know and we will certainly get out together, same goes for you, if you find your way to Nova Scotia let me know and I will get you out on some of our wrecks.

That Steve Brooker and Johnny Vaughan are a reall laugh but the biggest laugh I got wasn't a clip from the show but was from a video that Steve nd his buddy made befor the show ever was started and showed them eating a med-evil lunch down on by the water and they had to eat raw oysters. Man I nearly passed out I laughed so hard. (Just my sick sense of humor I guess.)

Hello all, I was invited to post up our bottle finds by "Surf" so I will start by a quick intro.
The Zodiac Divers Group has been diving for bottles for over 20 years and some of us have been at it for 30+ years. We do most of our bottle diving in the winter and save the shipwrecks and MDing for the warmer months. We dive Halifax Harbour, NS which was settled in 1749 but was used by the French and others for a safe harbour and fishing camp well into the 1500s.
I few of the group (of which there is 10 now) have been lucky to find early olive jars and OJ pieces that go all the way back to those times.

The first 3 shots are just a small sampling from Bob's collection, the other 2 are a few of my finds.

We also collect up other goodies from the bottom like steamship china, lost items from ships and a multitude of other items.
White Star Lines jug picked up by Dana 2013. Note the WSL flag under the pour spout.

White Star cup, I found this years ago, the same design was used on the Titanic and I have a picture of an identical one from a Nat. Geographic Mag. sitting in the dribris field of her.

Thanks CD, I will get some more pix up soon but we didn't get any bottle diving in at all all winter due to the weather. We will most likely get in a few this spring but we are going to start wreck diving now so the bottle dives will be few and far between.

This may be a silly question, BUT, do you ever bring along newbies? I don't dive (although I could learn), but it seems to me that just being there w/ you fellas, and seeing things come up from the deep blue would be truly amazing. A rare treat. I know you're into the shipwreck diving thing for the summer, but if you would ever consider taking along an 'extra' (I'll be more than happy to pay), I'd make plans for a trip north. You have an amazing operation- professional, productive and jaw-dropping in success. Thank you so much for this thread. And thanks again to Surf for encouraging you to post on TNET. Yakker

hey there Yakker, we sure do take people out if they want to come along and we don't accept money either. We didn't get out much this year due to the weather this winter, one of the hardest winters in a long time. We might get out bottle diving a few more times before the boat traffic makes it too dangerous. We usually start up again around Oct. so if you find your way up to Nova Scotia during the winter months drop me a PM and I will make every effort to get you out for the day and most likely send you home with some goodies.

Just out of curiosity- I saw a video, I'm nearly certain by Beau Ouimette, where he was using a skidoo, ie one of those torpedo shaped battery powered units that pulls you in the water, to clear silt in the river- holding it in reverse. In your case you could anchor it to the bottom. I'm probably missing some reason this would not work! Anyway, keep the great pictures coming! Good luck.

Hi there Mr. T, there are alot of THers that use those underwater scooters for blowing away sand and silt. For small jobs you can hold it down but for larger jobs you do need to anchor down so you are not fighting it all the time.
We would love a magic bullit to remove all the silt that's covering tons more bottles but I am afraid that it would be a monumental task with just a scooter. There are water jets that can do the job but with out an environmental permit the Harbour Authority would shut us down completely so we are content to just swim around the bottom and pick up what comes to the surface. The tides and current are always shifting the silt to reviel new goodies
