And children, the elderly, the infirmed, etc, etc where to they all fit into your vision - left to scavenge and beg or starve? Nit everyone is an able bodied man or woman correct. And how about the person who worked and lost a job but can not get another one even though they are trying - again throw them to the wolves? And even your so called deadbeats - how about their children? Too bad for them?? It's simple to make the statement luckily for this country we have many who know the issues and not just the rhetoric. Should we be bringing eugenics back?? Believe me I prob pay more in taxes than most and think a lot is wasted but I also realize that not everyone is as fortunate as I and I would never want to see any innocent person suffer when we live in a nation of such great wealth.

"I would never want to see any innocent person suffer when we live in a nation of such great wealth." Then why stockpicker would you rally for higher taxes when the people GUILTY of defrauding the system are receiving the bulk of the benifits?:BangHead: I like how you took a page right out of the liberal playbook and use kids to tear at heart strings "And children, the elderly, the infirmed, etc, etc where to they all fit into your vision - left to scavenge and beg or starve?" Nope I did not say that.:BangHead: I can see you have read the book Rules for Radicals though. What the point of my post was, I don't think as a country we should be punishing success. I didn't say the wealthy should pay no taxes did I? :nono: I am all for a flat tax regardless of income from zero to whatever you make no deductions just a flat percentage. And as for the leaches of society.....get a job! It's not my problem and neither is it yours. The disabled who really need help, elderly and kids should be helped, not low life trash that just play the system...Why would you support that?:icon_scratch:

It's always easy to look at the extreme cases and then be able to throw everything else away because of it.
Exactly! That's what the liberals are trying to do on gun control!!!!!!!!!!!!:BangHead:

. . . and everything else.

Stop tours of the White House? A TRUE 2% cut in their budget would be more than accomplished by just closing ONE day a week for 8 weeks, or an extra 8 days out of a year.

Instead, What's his name stops them completely until he gets his way. I wish he'd just hold his breath while lying on the floor kicking and screaming like all the other spoiled children do.

You do realize that, instead of cutting the actual budget, they are only cutting 2% off of the amount that it was scheduled to increase . . . not 2% off the total or even 2% before the scheduled increases.

The first thing to remember is that the gooberment does not figure their budget the way we do. I know what I make, and budget around what I know I'm going to make. Anything in excess is treated as "found money" and spent as needed or for extras. If my pay goes up, my budget MAY go up. I can't spend more than I make.

The gooberment doesn't care what they are going to bring in, they just need to keep increasing their programs to "buy" votes. Both sides of the aisle do it, no one is innocent. They don't know how much taxes they will take in, but that isn't important, only the increases.

So they set a base line. For example, 1 trillion dollars. They plan on a 10% (hypothetical amount) increase for next year's budget. That means 1.1 trillion dollars will be budgeted for spending next year. The GDP may only be .9 trillion dollars, but they don't give a rat's backside . . . they're just buying votes.

What that means is simple:

A budget item was $1,000,000.00 in 2012.

Normally, it would have gotten a 10% increase this year which would be $100,000.00, so next year's budget for this item is $1,100,000.00.
How is the 2% cut figured? (here is where the math gets tricky for NORMAL people to understand, but fortunately, I've done the research :hello:)

Instead of getting $1,100,000.00 this year -the $100,000.00 increase - they would only get $1,098,000.00. That means 2% of the scheduled $100,000.00 increase ($2,000.00) will not be budgeted for this year.

So, the actual budget will increase 9.8%. They will loose .2% of the total budget, or 2% of the scheduled increase.

Now, how is that going to cause massive layoffs of government workers (which would not necessarily be a bad thing) or shut down of critical services?

Ok, back to the White House tours. How do they deal with that real budget cut? The next time you catch Larry sleeping on the job or Susie and Joe fooling around in a closed . . . FIRE THEM. Problem solved.

I like that idea, but I would go even further. How about ZERO based budgeting? Every program would have to be justified EVERY year. Ineffective programs, or even departments would be dropped. Frank...

Excellent idea . . . but we only have so much room in the mental hospitals. The politicians and their dependents would go into mental meltdown over something like that. Throw in term limits, and there would be more folks jumping from skyscrapers than there were in 1929!

The cost of cleanup alone would be staggering!

let's try this math quiz: If the government saves Six Hundred Million Dollars, ($600,000,000.00) by cutting pre school of 80,000 children and 30, 000 teachers and loses 183 Billion Dollars ($183,000,000,000,000.00) because the largest companies booked their profits in off shore tax havens. How much has the deficit been reduced?

There wouldn't be any money going off shore if we lowered our corporate tax rate......

"the people GUILTY of defrauding the system are receiving the bulk of the benifits?" Do you have any information to back up this opinion. My belief is different.

Feel free to continue the discussion if you would like but I certainly would prefer to discuss the ISSUE instead of each other. If it would help you out why dont you assume that i completely agree with everything you say and that you have a class assignment to refute a position. That way you dont have to waste your time launching into personal attacks and discussions that obviously have nothing to do with the issues??

I'm one of those folks that what political debates and ads and get mad when the candidates bash each other instead of discussing the issues. I find it juvenile and believe it targets the in and under educated amongst us. Hopefully you feel the same.

You tell me, what exactly IS the "corporate tax rate" in this country, and what is the "corporate tax rate that is PAYED"? Or did you maybe mean "PAID"?

Yeah, the dictator Chavez can say "do it or die" and everyone says, "Sure, we'll pay more taxes!" Glad that scum is dead!

Of course, I can see where you would see him as a hero. Disarmed his people, killed political enemies, killed many citizens to keep the rest in line . . . yep. Great little socialist regime he had going. Stalin would have been proud!

Fed corp is 35 percent (which is actually pretty high compared to most countries). Plus state taxes.

Amount actually paid runs the complete gambit. As you know tax law and complicated and companies spend billions each each trying to pay as little as possible.

That being said I do not blame the companies. Congress creates the tax laws, every loophole, etc, etc. you can't then turn around and blame the company for following the law. Just as it was ridiculous when the press and democrats went after what Romney pays - blame the tax code, laws and the people who created them.

Right - probably best not to assume what I have read or what my beliefs or politically leanings are. Hopefully you realize an intelligent person certainly has the ability to believe one thing yet discuss another position or point of view - correct.

Picker, many things are illegal. Does that really stop anyone from committing crime?

That's right and then hopefully you are caught and then prosecuted.

No offense but aren't you making the same argument as anti gun people? Lets take everyone's benefit away because some are doing illegal things? Wouldn't the response be that why are you punishing the law abiding because some criminals are doing something illegal?
