Schoharie County, NY... less that 60 miles from you. It is a site-specific kind of item, unless you just luck out and find random coin in a field or something. Research old maps of your area and read histories of where folks were hanging out from the mid-1800's and before. Good Luck!

I am grateful to have found six (5 halfs, 1 full) across four sites in three contiguous rural towns in Vermont, within a 10 mile radius, from March-October last year. All but one from areas that were used in the 1785-1820s range, abandoned with the first mass exodus from this area when the canals opened up the West. Here's to hoping last year wasn't a fluke!

Good luck finding yours!

Here's mine, pretty worn.

I have found close to 30 coppers but still only one silver, I guess people never lost these.

I have found many reales, all on Long Island NY. All half reales. Here's the trick, dig everything, especially zinc penny hits. Much of what's left are half reales and they are mostly worn thin. If you're just digging perfect dime signals then good luck finding one.
