As you can see I have taken a different approach in securing the 1/2" CPVC tubing by using a rubber grommet. Using a Unibit I was able to size the holes slightly small than the OD of the inner grove of the grommet this makes the ID of the grommet slight smaller. This allows the CPVC tube to be very tight within the grommet. The CPVC tubing is sealed and no chance of leaking around the grommets. The 1/8” holes are pointing downward and onto pad within the water box. I installed a top made from a 1/4" cutting board and angled so that the bottom of the front plate will be about 1/2” off of the easy liner for water to escape from under the plate through the Scotch Brite. Some of the photos you will see a ball valve but the finished Miller Table I used a needle and seat valve from Loew's of which will allow for finer adjustment and even out the water flow.

To finish off the Miller Table fine gold recovery system I built a PVC stand with stainless steel all-thread and wing nuts at each corner so I can adjust the level of the table. A 500 GPH 12 volt Attwood was used. I used PVC T fittings that snap over 3/4" PVC pipe so that I can tilt the front or the back of the table to adjust the angle.

Some of you are having trouble locating Easy Liner here is a link to all the vendors who may carry the product. Granted every store may or may not carry the product. EASY LINER VENDORS

Dave, sorry I missed this post. My brother passed away last May. Boy time sure fly's by as its been nearly a year that he has passed. Yeah its been a tough 30 plus months. I am hoping everything is behind me. My new knee is getting better by the week. Hopefully this summer will find me out and about in search of that yellow stuff, but before that happens I have to have total trust in my ability to handle the terrain here in Arizona.

I saw that he did, Keith; terrible thing to lose a sibling.

On a brighter side, I have enjoyed your videos from the drone and hope you can get out and find some gold this summer. I would guess you will be wearing some sort of knee support? I have bad knees from high school football and I understand your concern about the terrain. Go with buddies and be careful--but you know all that. May you strike a nice little honey hole this year!

Ibeck,

I appreciate the offer but I am not building the Miller Table to sale. I built Jeff his Miller Table to help a friend. If you follow this thread from the beginning I am sure that you can figure how to put it together. Do a search on Ebay for Aluminum Sluice Box. Find a box that's 6 to 8 inches wide and 24 to 36 inches long and start your build from this bare folded aluminum or have a shop locally that has a brake to bend you up a box. The beginning of this thread I believe I listed where the parts I use to build the table came from.

Dave we were out last week filming Pena Blanca Lake in southern Arizona of which had been a gold mining area. Well the afternoon took a bad turn when one of the guys drones went down and he went on a search of it. Five hours into the search I ended up calling in Border Patrol to search for the guy. He was found dehydrated and bruised from the many falls he took. He had the cords of where the drone went down. BP plugged the cords into their device and found the down drone. Here is a video of Pena Blanca I shot months ago and the video from last week after the monsoon summer rains.

I may have missed it but does it matter which side to use, and does it matter which way to cut it and install it.
Should the mat be installed in the table cutting from the short side, or the long side.
And, the side would be whether we use the inside of the roll or the outside of the roll.
The inside being the closed or curved inside.

Im not sure at this point! I have almost all the parts in the shop and have the matting BUT I haven't put it all together yet! Itll be this Winters projet. I already have a slate Miller table and like it a lot BUT the dark gray or black color is heck on my eyes trying to see if all the black sands have washed off. Since you bought the roll ( ? ) why not try both sides to see which is the best for you ? This is a really neat device and I cant wait to build it and try it out. I have a offer from a club member to buy my slate Miller table ,so I may aswell build this!!

Ill have to try it and see.
There is a yuotube video ona person that tested matting against another miller table but will have to go watch it.
One person a few posts back said he tested it and it did not matter.
So, I can go with that I guess.
Looks the same to me no matter which way I look at it.

I am trying different sizes of pumps from HF, up to 200gph, and they wont keep the table wet.
I tried my 500gph from my spiral wheel and it seemed to blow to much out to fast.
Will keep looking into it.
When i reduced the 500gph it did not keep the table wet.
I am using the duck brand ultra fresh.

A few observations and suggestions.
It sounds like part of your problem is that you are not regulating the flow with some type of valve. Also, the table must be level side to side and it also must be flat end to end. If you have those then the water has no choice except to cover the entire area with an equal depth of water end to end and side to side. From there you can regulate the speed of flow by tilting the table and by total water introduction (valve control).
Don't forget to classify your feed to equal sizes (suggest you use 30, 50 and 100 mesh and with plus 30 mesh... just pan). Some adjustment of tilt and amount of feed water will probably be necessary as you change the size of your feed material. I would start out without hardly any tilt then increase it gradually until you are clearing the waste and the gold is static.

Good luck.

You have to treat the water/mat with a product found in the dishwasher isle at the store. Sorry as the product completely slipped mine. The product allows the water to flow down the mat eliminating the dry spots. I am sure someone will chime in and know the name of the product. I may have mentioned the product in this thread somewhere.

AZViper I got my slate Miller table sold (potentially) and Im gathering my parts to build your Miller table. Most of the parts I already have and had for years. I bought the drawer liner awhile back BUT I wish I could find some in lt. green or lt. blue for a good contrast to the B.S. and fine gold!

One of the common problems with the Blue Bowl was the water valve was installed at the inlet of the bowl. When using a ball or gate valve it creates a half moon affect when adjusting the water flow this allowing a disturbance in water flow. The same can be said using a ball or gate valve to close to the inlet of the water into the Miller Table. The valve I selected to use allows the flow of the water into the spray bar to be undisturbed due to its design, water flows around the cone shape valve 360 degrees within the ID of the pipe. For those using a ball or gate valve it's important to mount the valve a good 18" from where the water is entering the spray bar, by doing so the water between the valve and spray bar has a chance to even out to a constant flow.

In the drawing below shows how the water flows around this type of valve. As the knob is turned the two components come together to close the valve. When open the water flows unrestricted.

To eliminate the half moon ripple in the water you just need to add about 12 inch's of hose to move the valve back and this will cure that problem! Mr. "Hoser" gave this advice years back ! THANK YOU John!!

Hi, Russau! A most excellent reply. Good on you! I would add, that the "self-healing hobby mats" make excellent DIY Miller table builds. I'm thinking Hobbico. There are other brands out there that are blue, not green Hobbico.
I myself, use disassembled framed slate from places like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Love the natural "tooth" on slate.

I created a baffle infront of the water inlet, a multi-perforated tube, feeding my Megan's Moth DIY table. I used Rainbird fittings and a heat gun to relax the tiny tubing so the barbed fittings would slide into the clear tubing. The downsized and finished build is posted below. The baffle is pop riveted in, and swivels up and down to regulate laminar flow.

PS. I just asked CP's widow, Denise about you a few days ago. Wanted to know if you were still kickin'. I'm delighted to see your post here this morning. You are a rare treasure to the prospecting world.

Now I'm going to go add your post attachment and Hoser John's instructions to my file! :)

Hi Russ. I was just wondering if you built yours. No one has been on there in quite some time. I've been running mine since 2014. Just love it. Reading about guys wanting to use blue or green for better contrast. Seems to me black is the farthest one can get from gold color.
And man does this table stop fine gold. When sweeping gold toward the well, I sometimes stop to look at it with the 40x loupe. Gold from my VT spot sometimes is contaminated with mercury. And there under the loupe I can see additional tiny specks unseen with the naked eye.

No I haven't built your design but I've built other's out of slate and they also worked fine!! Now that (I still have all the parts needed to build your design I think I'll get to it after I deal with our current snow condition's. I think I'll make it a donate it to our Show Me Gold Prospecting club for our next meeting AFTER this Covid-19 goes away!
