I think since she is in Alaska ...she needs to know where she could purchase online or something.....or if we knew what county....we all could help her

A phone call to the county in question, whether library or courthouse, should do the trick.

Hello again, AlaskaAng-- Start with this website. It deals with genealogy info and research for the state of Illinois. The site address is:

http://ilgenweb.rootsweb.com/

On the left column, you'll see a link named, Clickable Map. Click on it, then click on the county you want. That will bring up the research pages for that county.

Keep this technique in mind for researching other states. Go to http://www.usgenweb.com/ as a starting place. There's a list of links for all states on the left side of this page you can use to start a search in THOSE states, too.

I've mentioned in other postings on this forum just how useful genealogy research methods are for THing.

Good luck. ;D

Hi All,

Thank you for your input; I'm in Alaska but will move to Galena Illinois (JoDaviess County) in 2009...it's not too early to start my reseach! I grew up there but left in 1986 when I joined the AF.

Thanks again,
Angie
