Newest coin in our S J colonial field 1840 Half Dime

This is the newest coin we have found in our old old site. Site has produced 1795 half dime and over a dozen +++ coppers all way back to early 1700's. The picture does not do this coin any good much better than it looks does have old scratch on front.

Great looking early silver. I have really grown to love that dark patina, the type of patina you might see only on the older silver coins. Good stuff!

Not the newest...You forgot about the 3 or 4 Barber Dimes that were found there. They all have the ashen patina. Luckily my FHHD did not!

Is it true this one was under the gravel?

Sorry I did forget about b dimes, And i love hunting the gravel. Not many like digging in that stuff. I have hunted in alot worse spots. But thats what it is all about. HH Mark
