Hello all, If you remember, 2 weeks ago I was given permission to detect a 19 acre estate that has a one room school house on it built in 1819. I detected briefly 2 weeks ago and got a cool dog tag and a Standing Liberty quarter.......been really crazy last 2 weeks and didn't get to go back until this past weekend......I spent a total of 10 hours between Sat. and Sunday and had a blast....or should I say a copper and nickel blast.....not one silver coin this weekend and I can't begin to explain why......but.....below is what I harvested.... Even though I haven't cleaned anything up yet I hope you enjoy the pics......

Pic 1 is from 2 weeks ago, Pic 2 is from Sat and Pic 3 is from Sunday and Pic 4 is a general area where I found everything.

Pic 1 -- dog tag and dateless Standing Lib quarter

Pic 2 -- 7 Indian heads -- 1871,1872,1876,1880,1889,1902,1905
3 Buffalos -- 1915-D,1919,1926
2 two-cent pieces, both 1864 but the nicer one is the small motto variety ;D
1 V-nickel --1901

Pic 3 -- (refered to as "Big Coin Sunday" by my brother and hunting partner over the phone....he's out of town on vacation and dying to come home....lol)

2 Georgivs Cents (or half cents, not sure, dateless)
4 Large Cents -- 1800,1809,1826,1845 (holed)
3 Indians -- 1866,1898,1899
1 Buffalo -- 1934
1 V-nickel --1911

Now don't get me wrong, I love Large Cents, but I love silver even more so for you White's owners out there these things were comin' up +86/+87 strong but yet no silver......again, not complaining, just figured on a Bust/Seated/Barber SOMETHING at some point.......but don't cry for me, I'm thrilled.

Here's wishing you are all in AC with beer in hand as you read this.....Happy hunting all!
Greg

Nice finds. I guess the reason for for a lack of silver might be that kids those days might've been lucky to have a nickle, let alone a dime or quarter. As for the readings of 85 and 86, I too have a whites and those really deep coins tend to confuse the detector. I once pulled up a Buffalo at 7 - 8 inches which gave a 86 vdi and the bouced to 22 and back to 86. I was surprised, expecting a SLQ given the location and history of the place. Go figure. Nevertheless, sounds like a great place to keep searching. Bet it'll be awhile before you could hunt it out. And get that silver that is most likely still out there. HH
