I FINALLY broke into the 1700's !!!!!!!!! 1773 Virginia Half Penny!

I was hunting an old farm today and this was the FIRST target I dug, I have absolutely NO idea what it is, but it has a clear date of 1773....man I am pumped up!!! I scratched it, sadly because it had roots all over, but right now I am so happy I don't even care. Before this my oldest coin was a undated capped bust dime. I still cannot believe I dug a colonial coin in OHIO!!!!! WooHoOOOOO :hello2: :laughing7: :headbang:

I took a bunch of pictures trying to get the best shot and angle....

That's a great example of a Va halfpenny. I've dug quite a few of those around here, but none show the detail like yours. Great find!!

Congrats on your find Terry. Finding that coin in NW Ohio at a random late 1800's farmhouse, I think is amazing. I'm glad I was with you when you got it. I'm extremely happy you snagged it!!

I am so happy, I can't believe this was dug in my area of Ohio, large cents are even tough to find in my area. I NEVER dreamed I would find a 1700's coin...........wow....I am still on cloud nine!

Wow, what the heck is that doing in Ohio :o Honestly, I dug 3 while stationed in VA the last 2 years and my diggin buddy had a few and only one of his was as nice as that one. I'm going to nominate this for the banner just based on condition and the extreme rarity of finding one in Ohio. Amazing
