She loved her Jewelry. It would not surprise me if that is her brooch. Pic looks like a dog. No circle though.

So did you sell it to the collector in GA? Do you have a picture of the letter?

I'm shocked this never made it to the, well, you know, the spot on the top. It's a sensitive word around here. Love this find!

No reason for it to make the top when it was first posted as there was no provenance but through the finders research and the members over time the piece has started to come together. So I guess you can get un shocked ! LOL ( I am laughing hope you are to)!

I have some White House items with that logo, and they were made and GIVEN out as gifts by the White House.
It can most certainly have been worn by her, but may have also been worn by someone in her entourage / family / friends.
Since she rode on that property, she was likely friends with those owners. It may have been theirs, not hers.
I don't know if the White House had a gift shop back then, but you never know.

Maybe sold in the nearby FDR gift shop at sometime in the past, like these are now?

To...Seal...Its Fate!

Great Find!

Some evidence may be explained by the US Great Seal located on this Brooch.

There were 2 Presidential Families that had Scottish Terriers for pets

Franklin Delano Roosevelt - President -
March 4, 1933 – April 12, 1945 Dog "Fala"

Scottish Terrier 1.jpg
George Walker Bush - President -
January 20, 2001 – January 20, 2009 "Barney"

Scottish Terrier 2.jpg

E pluribus unum…"Out of many, one"
The meaning of the phrase originates from the concept that out of the union of the original Thirteen Colonies emerged a new single nation.

The Seal's date may Seal the Fate of This Seal! (say that 3 times fast)

The 1904 Seal has lines and DOTS in the symbol above the Eagles Head.

GreatSeal1904DieDrawing.png

The die was first used on January 26, 1904, and was used for 26 years. All dies made since have followed exactly the same design, and in 1986 the Government made a master die from which all future dies will be made. The current die is the seventh, and was made in 1986.

The 1986 Seal has only LINES in the symbol above the Eagles Head!

GreatSeal-1972.png

It would be of interest, which Die was used for this Brooch.

Only authorized Companies are allowed to use the Seal within their Jewelry.

You possibly could send a photo to this company to verify its authenticity?
