Can anyone tell from the pictures what age this eagle is and what it was used for--flagpole topper? The threaded shaft seems a little short and untapered to me for a flagpole topper, but I've been wrong before! Hope I am this time and it IS a topper! Civil War surely would be nice, too, but...

All I can think of when I see this is that it's a flagpole topper but what's throwing me off is how it mounts. It also has the appearance of a hood ornament. Head to tail: 5.5 inches Width: 4 inches Weight: 1 lb - 3.4 oz Any ideas? THX - :blackbeard:
