Tonight a friend of mine showed me a purchase that he made of two gorgeous gold bullion coins. He said they were minted in Germany? after FDR outlawed gold coins in America. I was going to do some research online and I forgot what he called them :icon_scratch:

The one was a high relief Buffalo on the reverse and some writing on the obverse. They were stunningly beautiful and I'd like to find out something about them. He said they were made by a watchmaker in I think Germany maybe by the name of Wittenhauser..hausen...or something, I just can't remember ??? getting old I guess.

If you can help pleaase let me know..thanx

Alas, I think I may have been played for a fool >:(

I found some coins name of Wittenauer :icon_study:r, a whole series of them with diffferent designs that looked exactly like the ones I saw last evening and they were gold electroplate over sterling silver.  I'm sooo disapointed in my friend.  He claimed to have spent $1800.00 for the pair but they are clearly worth about $25.00 each :-[
