This is how you know you priced a nice item just a little too low!

Hopefully someone bids soon and a flurry starts.

Look at this on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=221422203697

Well I see you got 1 bid on it. Now maybe that will spur some of the watchers to bid as well.

if ebay buyers would wise up,
they wouldn't start bidding till the last 30 seconds and then just put
the maximum price they are willing to pay in.

it beats driving prices up.

of course when your the seller, it also cuts down on your profits,
but helps stop crooked dealers from having someone up bids

spoken like a real EBay seller :laughing7:

Maybe so from a sellers standpoint but it's what alot of buyers do already.

When I was bidding on Ebay it was the only way I would bid.
sure I lost a couple, but there is always another chance down the Line.

Now with all the changes at Ebay, I don't bid anymore.
If there is something I want, I look for the cheapest price, them I ask my nephew to use Buy now
& get it for me on his Credit card. just in case there is a problem with it.

Savvy buyers have always sniped at the last minute. Any bids before the last few seconds are just window dressing. With items that are in high demand the price ends up the same. The only items that don't make their true value are low demand items...which shouldn't be listed without a decent start price.

As a seller who's been playing on Ebay since 1999 I tried all the different tactics. Finally decided I simply hate playing "the game". Now If I have an item I need to get a minimum of $40 out of I start it at $39.99 with automatic relisting and forget about it.

I've tried all of these tactics and had them all executed on my listings as well.

I tend to watch and don't bid until the last few hours, unless it is something I really want or I won't be able to bid when it is ending. I don't use any sniping tools or apps, mostly because I either haven't found one I like or I really don't trust them. I also may add another 5 or 10% if I need or want the item, but, unfortunately, it usually costs me a few extra bucks and a case of buyer's remorse.

One thing which I am very happy about is that eBay has seemingly cut down on the shills and multiple accounts per person. That was a rampant problem in the early 2000s and I don't get the feeling that it is still a problem.

Auctions are finicky, anymore I run BIN since half the time you get no bids and another 25% of the time the person doesn't pay and it has to be relisted. So I gave up and went to BINS, the item will eventually sell and I don't have to worry about getting screwed.
But if I do run a auction expecially on a item that younger people from 35 down will want I run it as a 3 day auction, since we all don't have very long attention spans it has uped my auction success. That relist feature is a great item I use it anymore on all my items, even the ones I know will sell before they end. Its nice insurance.

When you run a 3 day auction, when is your preferred end day and time?

Thanks.

What confuses me there can be 3 of one item, all in close to or exactly the same condition.
and all three sellers have good standing.

But all bidders will hang on the one to go off first, trying to out bid each other :tongue3:
I would give up watching & move to the others hoping there will not be another early Bidding war.

Seriously what is it Ego's ?

it ;s like some local auctions I've been to.
they will have several crates of an item,
and hold up one, and start the bidding.
7 people actually bid against each other to get that first one, When they know the auctioneer
is going to say, OK who else wants one at that Price ? & divey them out :tongue3:

they should have not bid against the first bid of a 50 Cents :laughing7:

Usually the high bidder has the option of taking all the lots for that price.

yes But this is a weekly auction I'm talking about, with usually the same bidders,
and the same crates of stuff still sitting there for the people to bid on again, with the same results.
but they still bid against each other :laughing7: it would almost be comical if it wasn't pitiful.

of course the bidders could be shills just to make it look like a hot item
