I went back to the spot in the woods where I found 13 old Marines buttons that I posted on Sunday and found 17 more, making 30 total. Also found nearby my first Indian cent! Very toasty and I doubt I'll ever be able to make out a date on it, but still fun to find.

Re: the jacket/coat theory, if that were the case I'd think at least some buttons would still have some thread or cloth attached still, but the shanks are all clean.
