Got a 3 coin pocket spill. Luckily two of the coins were laying on top of each other, which helped protect one side of each coin from the elements. The two coins that came out with details are a 1787 Fugio Cent and a 1753 King George II halfpenny (unfortunately their obverses are pretty rough looking). The third coin was pretty toasted, but might be a second Fugio. I polished them up a little bit for aesthetic reasons. This was at the same site where I pulled out my late 1700s gold ring, and at the end of the day I ended up with 4 more coins from this site.

That's an awesome site (and sight). So cool that they were nested together like that. I've never seen a Fugio in that condition.

Very well played sir.

Awesome spill there. Love the looks of the protected side of the Fugio. Ironic how old King George protected that coin which was symbolic of the new United States of America.

My only colonial coin spill had two badly corroded King George coppers and a pillar style 8 reale cut in half.

The reverse side of the Fugio is in outstanding condition, and I like the way you polished the center part just enough to highlight it. That large open work button (or is it a rosette?) is very nice also.

Your ancient pennies on this day are choice. That Fugio cent with the protected reverse is stunning. All of the detecting guys up here on Olympus are talking about your find today.

I toothpicked it until there was leftover patches of verdigris remaining. From there I used a knife blade to scrape off the verdigris (very gently & carefully of course). Then I used some MAAS metal polish on it.
