Took the day off work today and went to two colonial sites. One of the sites I recently gained permission for and went today to just poke around and ended up talking to relative of the owner for almost two hours!! Once I was able to shake him I headed out to the field and my first signal was the 179? Half Cent. I'm going to say it's a 1795 because the 1796 is super scarce but I would like some opinions please:

The other site I went to, I've to quite a few times in the past and the finds are becoming few and far between but I was able to pull a nice old pewter flower button:

Here are the rest of my finds:

Please let me know if you can identify any of the doodads. Thanks for looking!

Nice going Joey. That's a bunch of great early finds. Maybe I'm seeing things, but to me it looks like I can see the point of a "4" as the last number in the date of your half cent. Can you see that? Can anyone else? Regardless of the date a half cent is an awesome find. I haven't dug one in many years.

Thanks Bill. I found a 1795 a few years ago, that I ruined trying to clean it, and it looks similar to this one. I sure wish it was a 96!

Yeah Cru, this is the first complete trapezoidal buckle I've found and I was pretty stoked about it. They are usually destroyed by the plow!!

I'm pleased when they are whole as well, the pin is the added bonus.

That other site really has some old relics! Nice buckle and pewter button. The Half Cent might be a Cohen 2 variety of 1794, the only think I can go by is where the date is positioned and how the numbers are in alignment to each other and distance from the edge of the coin and the bust area. Hard to say without much else showing and I guess the reverse is not too great or you would have posted it. The Cohen 2a Obverse is the only use of that so, if it is a match, the reverse is not needed for ID. It is not a 1796, 1797 for sure and 1795 seems unlikely, so look hard at the Cohen 2 of 1794 for an ID. 1794 Half Cent - Cohen 2 My 1794 is a Cohen 1a, date low.
Your coin should show Edge Lettering! It should also be a tad thicker and a little smaller than your 1795.

Thanks Don. It does feel thicker than the 1795 but there's no sign of edge lettering but perhaps it is worn. The obverse is in bad shape but I'll take some more pictures in the sunlight tomorrow. Thank you for your analysis!

Joey, I put my 1794 next to one of my 1795s and the difference is noticeable, should be able to tell without too much trouble.
