Thanks...you all are awesome. The reason that I assumed it was a button...is because I found about 15 in that exact spot the day before...kind of funny.

Nice capture...the buttons around it might had protected it from corrision, like a umbrella. Did you clean it? Anyhow...HH

I wiped it clean using a dry paper towel. Is that okay? or should I just do nothing at all?

Shame your super find was at one time a possible piece of a chain/necklace because the coin is definately in good shape. Love those Bust coins(found two last year) because they are a hard find, especially the further west you go!! Anyways, sweet find and congrats!!

Silver doesn't corrode. And as far as oxidation goes, there is no good way to clean that off. Depends on the soil conditions as to what you get.
