Woo Hoo. This is the first way cool coin that I have found. Natually I assumed it was a buttton and then saw a bit of bling.....then looked at the date....1831....10c amazing. Relatively low mint strike of 700K, I think, ....and in amazing condition. What do you think Buckle Boy?....you were right. :D

I've been at it for over 30 years and never found one of those. Congrats on the very nice find!!!

Thanks...you all are awesome. The reason that I assumed it was a button...is because I found about 15 in that exact spot the day before...kind of funny.

You should change your name to -Dannybagobuttons- in that case lol ;)

I agree with Bootstrap...it looks like it was dropped outside the front door of the mint !!

Sweet find !!

Looks like a keeper to me. I've been detecting since 1982 and I'm still looking for my first Bust.

Nice capture...the buttons around it might had protected it from corrision, like a umbrella. Did you clean it? Anyhow...HH

I wiped it clean using a dry paper towel. Is that okay? or should I just do nothing at all?

Shame your super find was at one time a possible piece of a chain/necklace because the coin is definately in good shape. Love those Bust coins(found two last year) because they are a hard find, especially the further west you go!! Anyways, sweet find and congrats!!

I'm sure if you stick a couple of holes in it, it would make a great button ;)

Silver doesn't corrode. And as far as oxidation goes, there is no good way to clean that off. Depends on the soil conditions as to what you get.
