Hello All, So I finally got out yesterday for a few hours. Had to go into the city because everything around here is still frozen. In fact everything down there was also..lol. I had a hell of a time digging through the frozen ground. But once I got down passed 5inch it was good.
So my first target was the bag seal, it was down about 8inches, when it popped out i was like cool im not skunked! Then about a half hour later i pooped out the smooth KG. .It was a terrible signal, actually all the signals were bad one's, not one said dig me..Must of been the frozen ground? ?
My next signal was the capped bust..
That was down about the whole size of my leash digger..When it came out i could see the eagle on the back, I was like yea baby!!! Capped bust..It's in bad condition though..Worst silver i ever dug.. but what the hell ill take it..lol.
Also found a Indian and a cool key..
Then my last signal was the NJ copper,
I got this crappy signal that said 10inch,
I dug about a 8inch plug flipped it over and the signal disappeared? ? I was like oh no you dont, it was there in the first place i know its still there.HaHa..
Dug down a few more inches a bam it was there flipped right out of the hole and on the ground. ..I love when that happens..lol...
So all in all i had a fun day, It was sooo nice to get out..Alot of work though trying to get through the ground..
Im posting a link to the bag seal, it seems that there are not to many of these found in the USA..There from the mid 1640s
If anyone has anymore info that would be great..Thanks for looking.
George
Ps..I threw in some dirty pics, for Ahab8, i know he likes dirty pics..lol

I have no clue?? Lol.
Im looking in my Whitman book and can't tell the difference. .Not enough to go on for me..So M 39-a sounds good.

I do not use my Whitman book for NJ coppers, I have the top two books out there, one is a strictly attribution book by variety and the other is the complete book on NJ Coppers. New Jersey Coppers - A Comprehensive Analysis and Attribution Guide by Michael A Demling. Reasonably priced. The other book which is rather expensive but I bought it anyway is New Jersey State Coppers" History*Description*Collecting by Siboni/Howes/Ish published by American Numismatic Society and C4 club.............

Okay.................so I'm out digging pull tabs and nickels and digging high tones that could be a silver coin. Get a text...........picture of a 1600s cloth seal. Reply with a congratulations and yada yada yada. Back to work and not long after another text with a picture of a KG coin. Then a text with a photo of a large cent. And the final straw when I turned off my phone and went home with my head hung low was a photo of a capped bust dime.

We might have the warm weather this time of year but OH LORDY do you have the treasures up your way. Fantastic finds for horrible digging condition. Ya did good!!

Vino, really a neat diverse group of finds. I like them all. The one that interests me the most right now is your seal. I think I found my first today, trying to figure out if that's what it is. Yours looks very old. has a great design on it. What a good day. HH!

Killer hunt! Lots of nice old finds! Looks like it was worth all the effort chiseling through the frozen ground. :icon_thumleft:
