Finally broke the dry spell. I hit a spot that I haven't been to in over ten years, and I'm not sure why! The last time I was there I pulled an 1800 half reale and a bunch of wheats.

First target was the 45p war nickel, that I assumed was a modern nickel up until I gave it a rinse. Second target was the chiffon red lipstick case. The fork soon followed. I googled it and it came back with a date of 1941. Things dropped off for a bit until I got that fat sounding coin reading at 6 inches. I knew what it was as I got excited, but was disappointed in the condition it came out of the ground, a very pitted 1851 Large Cent. 1919 wheat cent wasn't too far away. Then I got a bunch of penny dime readings, 5 in a small area. Hoping for a Indian Head or silver coins spill, it turned out to be a modern coin spill of 4 pennies and a dime.

The last three targets of interest were the tuning pegs from a guitar, a braclet, and a silver pencil with removable lead. Anyone have info of silver pencils? It almost looks like a Cross pen.

Looks like there might be something on the barrel of the pencil. Can you clean it to see? Have you tried to open the pencil? Sometimes the barrel will slide off, revealing an eraser on the other end. It may also have markings which might identify it.

About that large cent...just finding one has to be a good thing, and even pitted, at least you can read the date. Had a friend xray the only large cent I found to see it was from the 1820's. Looks like you came away pretty solid!

What's a good method of removing the red out of old nickels? I'd like to see if I can get that V nickel to cleanup and I've got a bunch of shot buffalos that I'd like to try something on.

Nice finds from a wide range of years. I bet there are more goodies there if you keep looking.
