It's a Bashlow restrike. Long story short, in the early 1960's someone got the idea of restriking Confederate cents from the original dies. The dies had been "cancelled" with chisel marks across the face. It was found that the original dies just wouldn't hold up to striking, so transfer dies were made from the original dies. Coins were struck in several different metals, the most common ones in copper. So, while not an original coin the Bashlow restrikes are collected and have considerable value. Just do an internet search for the whole story.
