There's 4 extra 'dots' if you will between 'of' and 'america'......Hope the pics come out..
Also , if it is a misstrike, What would it be worth... Thanks.. Rick

Coin is totally uncleaned... The only spot of crud missing.. Is on the 3 o'clock section of the coin...

nice shield nickel.
those dots or bumps are probably cuds or corrosion.
there may be a few cud collectors out there, but dug nickels do not generally collect well, except by those who dig them.
i would say you have an excellent conversation piece.

I would say probably corrosion. Even if they are die chips I doubt it would add any value. The mint had so much trouble with the hard nickel alloy it is actually difficult to find a nice shield nickel without some kind of die crack or damage.

Definately not corrosion... I've dug a crapload of old nickles..But thanx for the info guys ! :icon_thumright: :icon_thumleft:
