I had exactly an hour to hunt this evening but really only needed two minutes. First find of the hour was the real keeper! I went back to the area where I found the large trade axe and found that the farmer was cutting more hay. We chatted for a bit and he pointed out where the foundations had been when they were plowed under. The site is still covered with hay and it will be another week before he gets to that particular spot so I started hunted the areas that were clear. I've determined that there are finds from all eras in this field.

First target was the remains of a 22 cal. pistol! I am by no means an expert so if anyone knows the make and age of this piece I would be happy to know. I also picked up a mystery copper which I am still checking into...foreign by the looks of it. Thanks for looking.

Update: Identified as an 1875 Colt Open Top Pocket Revolver!

Wonder if the rest of the gun is laying around?

I looked but no luck with the exception of a possible piece of the pivot point. It's been a plowed field so there is still a chance of finding the barrel and cylinder.

Wow!! That is a cool find.... Congratulations!!

Thanks! I like it too. It will have a nice position in the new display case I am working on for gun parts and militaria.

Great find! And the sword hanger in your photo is almost as nice. It's great that you were able to get an ID on the gun.

Sword hanger? Really? I had no idea what it was. I'll have to do a little more research I guess!
