Finally! We've been able to hunt here now for almost 2 weeks and this is my first silver dime for this year! In fact, this is the first silver dime I have ever found at this site. I've been hunting this old churchyard for the past 5 years or so.

List of finds today:

1. 1939 Merc Dime
2. Old pocket knife engraved
3. 43 cents change
4. 2 gun shells
5. 2 Old oil lamp parts
6. 1 large square nail
7. A few bottle caps from the 50's

It was strange because I almost always find wheat cents but today...zero.

The Merc was found 2 1/2 to 3 inches deep (normal depth for silver dimes) next to a piece of a 40's CRUSH soda bottle.

Here's the dime even before I washed it.

Sweet,

Great find what gear are you using?

Keep @ it and HH!!

Thanks everybody for the nice comments!

MUD, I'm using the Tesoro DeLeon right now but I buy lots of machines. The DeLeon is very good for trashy areas and it's TID meter is pure sweetness. I see it as the best backyard, park, ballfield, etc., machine I've ever owned.

However, it's not the deepest machine on the block. We're talkin maybe 6 to 7 inches on a silver quarter. A silver dime about 4 to 5 inches. The strong point with this machine is it's target separation. It's supreme! And since here in Michigan most finds are less than 5 inches deep it fits the bill perfectly. I'm re-hunting "hunted out" spots and killing on them. Already I've picked up loads of wheats, 2 silver coins, 3 rings and several cool relics (2 weeks of hunting).

If you ever want more just PM me.
