18th century site keeps on giving

Was back at my favorite site this past weekend and was not disappointed. Found a very crusty 1835 LC that cleaned up real nice using low power electrolysis, a fancy 2-piece coat button with the back missing - could use some help to ID that one. A dandy, two other flat buttons and 2 hem weights. All of these finds were found in a field next to a home that was built in 1756, which has remained occupied through the years.

Thanks, Crusader. I went to the site and searched on "horses". This popped up. Almost identical, but a newer version. So this is definitely a fashion button from a much earlier year. Thanks!

1835 Large Cent in pretty decent shape. THANKS FOR SHARING, and thanks for posting before and after photos of the electrolysis.

Posted the button in the "What is it?" forum, and through responses found out that this is the seal of the state of Pennsylvania. The CW PA uniform button is similar, but not the same; so I'm convinced this is civilian fashion button from an earlier year.

I am no expert, but here is what the boys told me: The old 2 piece buttons are all brass... if the back rusts away, then the button was modern... brass front, but steel back.

Your LC is really nice after a little "shocking". It is amazing how much better you can see the details.
