Went to an old park in a near by town that over the years has been hunted a lot , but I thought I would give it a try with my x-terra 705 and the vary first hit I got was this well worn 1906 P Liberty V Nickel at about 4"...I thought it was going to be a great day hunting , but that was about it, a few clads and pull tabs...but I guess it was still a pretty good day... I was using the 6" DD 18.75 kHz coil and I am not sure I am going to do that any more for coins...it was hitting on all kinds of vary small pieces of metal...I was digging 1/4" pieces of metal at 6"...I guess that's why its a nugget shooter....wanting on my 10 1/2" DD 7.5 kHz coil to get here, cant weight to see how its going to work in places I hunt in..

cool find. I've always liked V-nickels. The very first coin I ever found detecting was a V-nick. By the way, the only year they ever put a mint mark on them was 1912

coin book says they had mint marks of S for San Fan. D for Denver and if they had no mint mark it was minted in Philadelphia so its what they call a P liberty v nickel..
