Hello,

I hope everyone is doing well. I just recently got into antiques and I came across a very old cash register, 1909. I was hoping one or several of you with a lot more experience than I could help me determine its estimated value. My goal is to purchase this and sell to an antique collector. So I'm hoping I won't over pay and be in the negative. I found it online at an auction so I'll try my best to get answers to any questions you ask. It has been used and is quite old. I've attached a lot of pictures. Thanks so much in advance. Selina

Are you looking to sell it here on TNET or are you seeking some kind of information? Prices for them seem to be all over the place.

Yep like creskol said the prices for register's range all over the place. The value has been on a down trend from the little bit I watch them. My 1st question would be, does it still function?

If I win the auction I'll be cross posting it here and on other antique sites. For now I'm just trying to get an idea of its value to make sure I don't over bid on it.

That's a question that I asked them and still waiting to hear back. As soon as I do I'll post their answer.

Also ask if they still got the 4 original keys for it. Key 1 is to top lid.
Key 2 unlocks the key arms
Key 3A is the bell key for the zig zag lock
Key 4 is a reset key.

Lovely old register.

I don't know what it's worth but it's missing the decorative hinged lid that covers the security counter wheels, and that would significantly detract from the value to a collector. This isn't exactly the same model, but shows the lid closed and open:

As pointed out the cover is missing, possibly there's no keys, are value reduction based.
Selling to a dealer is a hard sell as they have to also market the piece.
Unless you buy it, find lid part, add more time and expenses.
Question the value and what they're realistically selling for in the open market today.
There's 5 complete ones in nicer shape est. Values $200-300. Buds are sitting at $50-150 3 days remaining.
Here is recent sale.

Kind of a boat anchor really. I have seen them priced around a $1000. with a shiny nickel plating and maybe in working condition. I wouldn't risk any money on it, but that's only because in my opinion it be a pain to get rid of.
