1955 steel penny?

I work at a store that sells sets of 1943 steel pennies, the regular 1943, the 1943 s, and the 1943 d. I was looking through the sets and noticed that one had a 1955 steel penny in the regular 1943 slot? Is this a fake penny or something extremely rare that I'm not seeing in the coin books? I'll get pics up soon...any help would be great...

Are they rare? Worth anything? Or was I better off getting one with all 43's in it?

It is prob plated.. BUT if you ever find a 44 penny that was steel, then thats worth quite a bit. They started to recycle shell casings from the war around that time (thats why the 44 copper pennies are a little bit different in color for uncirculated examples).. but some of the 43 steel planchets were left over so they were also thrown into the bin. There are only a few examples known thus far (i think it was 3, but don't quote me on that).

That would be cool if it really was steel though! Esp if it was one of the 55 double die cents too! Cool find in any case
