1974 American one cent Help

Is it worth anything? I just saw one post somewhere where they say it's illegal to own. Can somebody
help my with some info about this coin?

someones Mistaken, or it isn't a regular 74 1 cent there talking about. there only worth 1 cent, unless you got it encaplulated & graded MS-65 then there worth 20 cents, the 74-S 30 cents & $1.00 in Proof

1,579,234 of the 1974 were struck in aluminum as experimental pieces according to the Red Book. None of these were placed in circulation but you never know??

Welcome Walti72, if you got one hold on to it . People being human very little of anything that is not supposed to get to the public succedeeds in staying hid. Some always takes a trpophy- sovenier. Cladius.

The coin you refer to was made by the mint they made alot of them. I believe they were zinc. They gave some of the first to officals, then decide not to release them. The mint destroyed all they had made. When ask to return the ones given out to the officals, most said they lost them or did not know if they spent them.
