1983 'B' penny

Today while looking at pennies, I came across a 1983 penny with a mint mark of denver or Philly, to me it looks like a B. I know there is no B mint. Is this a sort of error? All specs and sizes of a mal penny. 2.9 weight, penny sized.

Looks to me like an extra material error on a D mint, at least from his angle...you should google the errors for that year

There looks to be a gouge on the rim. That penny may have been damaged by being caught under something heavy.
