got out this morning to a small ploughed field in dorset my only good site not a lot for the first hour but then a high tone bleep and just under the topsoil was a roman broach not cleaned it yet so looks a bit rough but a great start with the GMP 2014-10-25 16.54.31 (2).jpg

Well, that answers SS & my statement about your pasture land.(sorry re-read it, you tried a ploughed field instead of the pasture you stated on the Gen Dis forum )If you were trying my settings, then its the small whispers you need to listen for for those deep 12 inch finds.

PS. Thats a 1st C AD type, so if lucky you may have Celtic activity before the Romans.

PS. All our good sites have lots of lead, if this was you first dig, it would suggest to me your some distance from the Roman Site, so you may need to move fields to find the main activity. Also check googlearth.

yes mate only had today to go on the ploughed its being seeded . will be on pasture next week went by the book today thanks for your help on the settings its all a learning curve with new machines
