LOL

After seeing a Low Flying Flock of Geese today,
Weather Today got nice enough to Get out & Meet up with DKinPA.

I Had to take my New SE Pro out for a Test Drive.

DROVE ME NUTS !!!!

Well Maybe Not Realy :D

I Am starting to Believe the 11" Coil
and Power from these Detectors is just Too much
for Trashy Areas, Half my time was Spent
Listening to Noise changes & Nothing Solid enough To
Convince me to dig.

Proof of this is Here

Picture.jpg

Anyone who Has Detected with me Knows,
This is 5 Minutes Of Detecting for Me.

Part of my Time was Spent were Trash was at a Bare Minimum

& I Got a Loud Solid Repeatable Signal

This was found about 3" Deep

Well Jeff, I really can't say I understand what your going through ( not being an SE owner), but I know you'll eventually get it all dialed in.

The smaller the coil the better for trashy areas though.

Jeff, it looks like you are doing nothing wrong to me. It's just a matter of time and patience. If there were silver coins or a gold ring under your coil you would have dug that too.

Youll get the hang of it.

I got mine back today, pretty darn quick turnaround if ya ask me. Anyway I got out for an hour in a field that never did produce too much, one thing off the bat about the I upgrade is shotgun shells sound alot like indians now :laughing9: It is alot smoother running than what it was though, pin pointing seems better also.

Did you read the Manuel? And did you learn to ground balance it. Sounds like you had it running a little to hot.
good luck.

Dennis you are gonna have to take the lead on this learning curve for your uncle......LOL!! I was afraid I was gonna see that SE flyin' through the air at some point yesterday since he didn't have the swingy thingy attached to it!!

I even made sure to read the SE owner's manual on Friday night so I could offer some help in case he came out yesterday.....I knew I was gonna see a bad attitude behind the handle on the first time out....LOL!!

Overall for a first time with a totally different machine I think he did OK with the patience factor...LOL!!!

Hang in Jeff.......I know you can master that thing, but NOT in 2 hours!!

I still have a Few different Settings to try Before I Decide I Can't
get the Hang of it.

May take a few Different Test Targets Out next time.
At this point I Have No Idea what silver sounds Like
with It, But Target I Thought would
be silver Turned out to be aluminum

My first hour with this machine was almost enough to send me selling it on ebay. It wasnt until I switched the response sound from "normal" to "long" that things instantly changed for me. Not 5 minutes later I was picking out good signals from all the sputtering iron on a well spent site. 2 hours later I was holding a half dozen buttons and several relics and like I say, the place was well hammered.

Maybe its because I come from 20+ years of using whites top of the line detectors but I could not grasp the Explorer SE with the normal response sound. It sounded like I stuck my head in a bowl of rice crispies with all the snaps crackles and pops!
