2007 and diggin, could be D. Crockett's himself!!???

Finally got out ;Dthis afternoon with krazyglue (Pat) to a researched site in the OFF season. Old boyscout camp was closed in 1967 due to high tension power lines going in. There was 8 cabins, and a mess hall. Anyways as far as I know I think the camp started in the 30's or so. Found some evidence of the camp by way of old pane glass pieces, a small section of lead gutter and some foundation pieces. I am fired up to spend some time there this season!!! We didn't come away with much, KGlue had some shells and bullets, no coins. And I found a broken, new keychain caribeaner thing, a bottel top, and my first musket ball, no coins :'(. But hope is not lost on this site!!

We were alittle excited as the ground was still frozen, 3in crust. Maybe in a couple of weeks with the help of the MD gods we will be thawed and drained. ::) Trampsing through mud then snow, then mud for a few hours between rain showers was a tough road to hoe. The only good find was the musket ball and trying to figure out if the thing is old or not. We really don't get hold relics up here like the folks down south so I have a hard time believing it is of much age. Also it isn't white like the ones down south. Looks to me like 50 cal or so.

Now for the pics.

Way to go Davy "C", now all you need is a coon skin cap. Bet the dogs would love that! Nice looking musket ball, and by the way, they are not always white like the ones they find in the south. But don't get me wrong I have found many pounds of musket balls that are white in color.

HH, and keep the coil to the soil, Ringfinder

beautiful dogs! (well...at least the Labs lol)

Got a thing about fu fu dogs. ;D

Old scout camps can be a great spot if you narrow down where they spent most of their time!

Me and you both about the fu fu dogs. ;)

We tried the hill behind where the camps were located and didn't get a coin. When we moved closer to where the cabins were located the detectors started to wake up a bit. I also love this site cause you can run in all metal and higher sens as it is a pretty quite site by our NW Indiana standards. The Ace did me pretty good although I know I walked over alot of signals that I would have normally dug if the ground was alittle softer.
