Just curious if anybody else has noticed this. When I edge-check my halves, I date-check the shiny copper edges just to see if there are any interesting proofs or NIFCs.

I've gotten dozens of NIFCs from 2002 on, but nary a single 2008!

It's lower than some years according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kennedy_half_dollar_mintage_figures but I have plenty of the other years with low mintages like 2009 & 2011.

Just curious if others have similar things to wonder about while looking for the real stuff :-)

I have gotten a crapload of 2008's and yet to get a 2011. Which is kind of strange since i do 4 boxes/week and i figure that its pretty good volume.

Depends on who buys the mint rolls, saves out the best 2, and then dumps the rest into "the system". Around me, 2002, 2003, and 2008 are the heavy years. Up by my dad in Western WI, 2010 seems to be the "In" thing.

I have collected full rolls of AU's for each year, both P & D 2001 - 2010. Thrown back a lot more. They seem to come in waves. Just now starting to find 2011's.

I hate the NIFC the most. I have even marked some before releasing them into the wild.
I do not waste my time with Clad NIFC

I got a 2008 last night.
I keep all NIFC's myself and all gold plated, counterstamped, etc, etc
I figure I can always get my 50c back for them :laughing9:

I've been getting plenty of NCIF's in all years, but they do seem to run in cycles.

One week I will get a roll full of 04's, the next week, all 09's, etc.

I don't think I got any 11's until November. (?)

I keep all NIFCS that look sharp,if they have been circulating i let them go. My dealer offers 60 cents for each NIFC.

please don't mark NIFC coins, I am building my kennedy set and if the 2011 P/D I found was marked I'd be upset as I wouldn't really want it in my album. I think it is a dis-service to collectors to mark the rarer coins (~2mil made vs 20mil or more of previous years)

I managed to get a handful of 2008 NIFCs in my past 2 (skunk) boxes. I keep checking the shiny rims for hopes of a commemorative, but none so far. I just throw back most of my NIFCs because coin dealers don't pay a premium for them, they aren't silver and I really don't collect US coins except for a handful, none of which are clad Kennedy half dollars.

Looking for NIFCs in circulation is a contradiction in terms.
Their supply and distrubution will be by defination varied.
Personally, I have been collecting half dollars for slightly over one year and have a complete collection of NIFCs (P&D 1987,2002-2011), except 2011D.

PLEASE DON'T MARK NIFCs
Others want them and it is no skin of your behind to leave them alone if you intend on dumping them
