It still in use but it looks like older stuff, the bracelet I don't think you can get that kind of heavy detail anymore. Found lots of coins also that where green, so I am sure the site is not hunted by others.

Was using my trusted Excalibur Minelab as the stuff where in the water. I will put the 24k in the ground 4" and go over it with the DFX and give you a reading if you would like.

You'd have to drag me out of that place after those finds! Truly a beauty of a bracelet!

Congrats and go get some more

Re: 24k bracelet and 2 rings from local swimhole

Hi Treasurenut,

Most people here probably don't know where Dacula is. I'm an ole Elberton boy so I know your stomping ground well.

Is the bracelet stamped 24kt? The reason I ask is that very few places will now work in pure gold. It is too soft. It won't hold up very well. Clasps bend and they fall off. Oh? That's a good thing here I guess. If it is stamped 24 carat, the only places that work that metal would be places like India, Pakistan, Thailand, etc. They kept the jewelry pure gold so it is like money. The value is easily determined and there is no processing needed to recycle it into more jewelry. It also means that it is probably old. The reason I say that is that I cannot find any jewelers who now make 24kt pieces.

Most places sell 23kt instead. Here is one site:

http://www.amuletjewel.com/s0117/index.php?pgid=0118

I'll keep poking around to see what I can come up with.

Go Dogs!!

Re: 24k stamp

BioProfessor,

Thanks for your informative post, look at the picture below and look at the lock or clamp, which is by the bell. On that clamp is the stamp with 24k made in a flat spot on there. The gold is very soft, I just bend the clam/lock back in place in the picture it is open.

My guess is Indian, Pakistanian, maybe Thai. Worth same as gold bullion as gold. Probably 2-3 times that as an antique bracelet. Do you have a gram weight?

Some nice finds there; treasurenut! WoW :o
you'd think they'd have put a more secure clasp and safety on a 24k piece, eh?
Congrats!

Re: 24k bracelet and 2 rings from local swimhole

DFX-Greg,

The DFX at 4" give me a signal of 31 jumping a little sometimes 36, at 2" it makes it a solid 40.

I hope that helps.
