Covered nearly all the denominations today.

Started out getting a box each of nickels and pennies at B of A. Results -

**Pennies**

8 Wheaties: 1944 (2), 1946-D, 1950-D, 1952-D, 1953-D, 1956-D, 1958-D

8 Canadian: 1971, 1978, 1989 (2), 1991, 1993, 2005, 2006

**Nickels**

Great box! 23 pre-1960 including 4 keepers -

1940
1941 (2)
1942-D (keeper!)
1943-P (silver!)
1944-P (silver again!)
1947
1947-D
1947-S
1948
1949
1950 (keeper!)
1952
1953-D
1954-D (2)
1955-D
1956
1957-D
1958-D (2)
1959-D (2)

**Quarters**

No silver out of $100 from the slots but I got a 2005-P Canadian

**Halves**

$1000 drained from the slots and I got four 40% (66x2, 67x2) and a 90% (64-D)

**Coinstar**

A nice pile of rejects at my local Albertson's machine. In the mix was -

Canadian: 5¢ (2006-P), 10¢ (1971)
Mexico: a "new "peso (1992), a five pesos (1998)
Great Britian: penny (2005)

...and 13 random discarded US pennies, some of which are fused together or otherwise un-Coinstar-able. There were also three odd, tin replicas of foreign coins. One is a patterned after a Panamanian balboa and the other two are dime-sized "copies" of coins with Arabic inscriptions. Have no idea if these are meant to be copies of actual coins but I'll give my catalog a cursory look.

Great day!

Good luck all!!

Nice take Immy. I miss having a Coinstar machine by me to grab rejects that people leave behind.

Sure LJ -

In the early 1960s nickels began being minted in obscene numbers (hel-lo, 1964-D) and while you can certainly say the late 50s have their high mintages as well, that's the last decade in the series that still has very collectible dates and errors. Plus collecting a roll of each date and mintmark (like some CRHers do) is a cinch in the 60s and beyond, but a challenge for the 50s and earlier (after 20+ years of searching, my 1955-P roll has only 17 coins). I don't keep all the pre-60s I find but I like to make note of them. They may not have intrinsic value like the silver ones, but any 50+ year old nickel is a curio in my book.

As far as Coinstar CT, these were coins other people have abandoned because the machine rejected them.

Thanks Immy......I may give nickels a try....should be fun. I appreciate your reply. Good luck with those 1955-P's.....that obviously is a tough one since you have been at it for 20 years. Thanks again.
