I got out to a site for 3 short separate hunts. This site used to have a colonial tavern on it and is located a little outside of Savannah, GA. The site has been pounded (heavily detected) by many local detectorists over the past 30 years and many colonial military and civilian items have been recovered. It would be one of those sites that many would consider "hunted out". I had a great 3 hunts, the second hunt being the best. Here are the finds and the video of these hunts. Best of it was the 1802- 1808 1st Regiment Artillery Button and the 1783 Spanish half real. I hope you enjoy it.

Congrats on the great finds recovered over pounded soil. That first regiment artillery button is a stunner! I'm really curious about the half real, as the photos appear to show pitting and substantial flaking around the rim--very unusual in Spanish silver. Any chance it could be a contemporary counterfeit?

Great finds! looks like you have a nice site to keep you busy.

I had the same question about the half real after I cleaned it. It is unlikely a contemporary counterfeit, more likely a colonial counterfeit from this site. I like it better if it is counterfeit. I have dug a bunch of half reales and this would be my first counterfeit.

Nice hunt! Which machine were you using?

totally awesome! button is crazy awesome. it would be mind blowing to find one like that one and in such great shape too!
