it was a pretty awesome day, found a four dime spill, three Mercs and a Rosie. Then the 43 War nickle. The spill was a slow one at first, I didn't realize that it a spill. The 1st "hole" first contained a chunk of rusty iron and I thought that was weird, it really sounded pretty good and filled it back in. then checked the hole again with the Deus and there was my sweet signal and so out plopped the plug again. a quick check with the pin pointer found a merc in the plug itself. So I took a pic and sent it to the wife (at work). filled the hole and stood up to detect again and got another hit like five inches away, same sweet sound. Another merc and another pic taken and sent to the wife. got up and got another sweet sound about 5 inches away and this time it was a Rosie. Another pic sent. Now I am pretty excited as I get yet another sweet hit about six inches away, another merc and another merc! the oldest is a 191?, the Rosie is a 48 I believe. The shovel is where the 1st hole was dug and the hole shown was the last one. Then found three nickles in a five foot area, one a 1940 and one a 43 War Nickle. I have to admit that the silver spill was in an area that I had walked thru rather quickly in the past to get to "the better" places. The pic of the merc with the wheaties was actually from a previous hunt last week (she insisted we put it in this time). This makes 7 silvers for me this month and two for her, pretty darn awesome for us. So this was like 4 hunts total with 9 silvers found on this permission this year. I also dug several very deep pennies that were toasted way bad. then dug a large hole to china for what turned out to be pieces of foil. still digging iron but I am mostly pretty sure that it is iron before I dig. I thought that I was digging another pull ring on the war nickle. I do like the 5 tone at this point. I am hoping that the HF coil will make some of those hard to repeat signals better. I now have areas that are pretty quiet and hope to hunt them with the HF coil, someday. Gotta love this sport! DL

it was around 65 today but with a very cool wind. this is Arkansas, it goes from the teens to tee shirt and shorts in one day. we had frozen ponds like a week ago and now it is slushy muddy ground. makes for somewhat easier digging. it is supposed to snow again this weekend. I was not expecting to find this much silver so quickly this year on the shorter hunts. I am digging deeper coins with my newer settings. I either have nice easy digging or the rocky hard stuff stocked with roots. Still hoping for the tall winter grass to be cut before summer, gots lot of places waiting to hunt. My wife can't believe the stuff that we have found here, pretty awesome for us.

the hunt after a great silver day can be tough. you are on the silver high and hope to keep it going. but the truth is usually otherwise. I had to work very hard today just to find two wheaties, a 1920 and a 24. keeps you humble for sure.

the dime spill could have been found with any decent detector, they were only about 5 or 6 inches deep. I just finally swung over them. it did reinforce the fact that you need to swing over a hole after you fill it. I really thought that the iron was the target. the Deus really likes the round iron but I can more often tell that it is most likely iron. now I have to find some more, still got a lot of bucket listers to find LOL.
