I got the courage up today to actually knock on a door for permission to hunt today. The house was built in 1898 and I have had my on on it for a while now. Wouldn't you know that the owner had absolutely no problem with me hunting his yard. He said "have at it son". I don't know why I'm so reluctant to knock on doors, I think it's because I feel that I am bothering them or interrupting their day.

Anyhow, I had a great hunt today, a record 5 silvers! Two Mercs (41 and 44), a 46 Rosie, 26 SLQ and a sterling "Tarpon Club" pin.

The Mercs were my first ever silver spill. They were stacked on top of one another. I need to find more silver spills, they are exciting!

The "Tarpon Club" pin has some pretty interesting history. Tarpon Club was a brand of liquor manufactured by L. Eppstein & Son in Denison, Tx between 1873-1904. The Eppstein son moved the business to Ft. worth Tx in 1904 often the death of his father in 1900. With the back of the pin saying "Denison, TX". We can conclude that the pin was made prior to the company move to Ft. Worth in 1904. Pretty cool I thought.

Thanks for looking!

You will feel that way for the first few times. Then there's nothing to it because you know what your going to find. Don't let the ones that slam the door in your face and say " absolutely not!" discourage you, there out there. I've found that on average 95% will give permission and not even think twice about it or even be interested in what you find! I always show my finds and if they want something I let them have it. I went into one yard where I found several silver coins like yourself but they were more interested in the buffalo nickel! Congrats on your silver!!

I think we all feel the same when we first start asking, as I used to tell the kids, they can't kill you they can only say no .

Nice finds!

I found that most people who live in old houses are interested in the history of the property and what you might find. Also, always remember that the worst they're gonna say is no..
