60 minutes of relics

Went back to the same spot as yesterday trying to find the other half of the Victorian sash buckle. No sash, but not bad for a 60 minute hunt.

*More harmonica reeds. I think that makes 11 now.
*1800's padlock
*1877 dated silver plated spoon. (Wish it was an 1877 IH)
*Round ball
*Button
*Clock pieces, etc.

Any idea on the "??" item?

I'm thinking it may be part of an old knife with the wood handle totally gone?
I swear I've seen that small fish looking design on a lot of pocket knives.

Cool relics! That piece looks like the cast pewter bolster for a knife, spoon, or fork. That raised piece would have been a decoration on the outside of the wood handle.

The mystery part looks like it is cast pot metal ? Is that what it was made of ?
The Ball looks like it is 45 Cal round ball for a pistol , but I can not tell if it is lead or not by the photo .

I believe it is a cast piece. Here are a few more photos.

The 45 cal round ball is lead with a white patina.

I could see what your saying now - definitely could be the handle with the wood gone. Definitely see the "fish" design too. That place is LOADED with the harmonica pieces! Pretty soon you should be able to rebuild them all...lol
Glad you found some lead - I'd say that's a good thing out there...

The knife handle is only about 2" long.
Great info on the lead bullets. I didn't know that. I'll feed a few to Quindy when I see him.
Good luck at your spot. I think you & Joe are on a good one there.
I have been digging harmonica reeds like crazy at this new spot. Must have been a Bob Dylan training course in those woods.
