Hi all. Hope your Wednesday was as great as mine was. My friend Cjon455 and I were invited down to Philly to hunt with another TNet member most of you know as Vino. As evidenced by the incredible finds he makes, Philly has some pretty unique opportunities if you can get permission. I do believe the 3 of us combined did very well, with all 3 getting different finds. I will let the 2 of them post and tell their tale. Enjoy the pics. I will post cleaned ones later....was a long day in the heat, lol. Please feel free to give your opinions on the 64th.

Thank you very much Tom. I was the only one without an LC from yesterday. Chris and George kept racing ahead of me after I found that old silver at the first site. I think they were deliberately dropping Lincoln's to throw me off, but once we got to the second site, they couldn't stop me! George was off digging his own very nice find ( that he still hasn't posted! ) and Chris went running to an area that he had not been able to hunt before. Since I was the oldest of the 3, I did the smart thing and sought shade, lol! That old copper was waiting for me there in the dirt under a huge old tree lining the drive to the main house. As the proverbial old bull said to the young bull after being told " Let's run down there and serve one of those cows", " Let's walk down there and serve them all".

What a fantastic hunt, Dave!!! I would have been smiling the whole way home. This hobby in and by itself is fun. Having friends with which to share it takes it to a whole other level. And of course living in an area with so much history is just the icing on the cake.

I would have been smiling but the heat from the 8+ hour hunt pretty much sapped me!

I cleaned up that broken pipe stem and you can still smell the tobacco smoke from inside. Just to make sure, the gf confirmed it for me. Now THAT is pretty awesome!

NA, can't do that then you'd have to dig a hole and pull him in! Easier to save him! Lol!

Nice silver and copper! And it was a real 64 th for a little while OD! It's out there with your name on it.

Nice finds! That 64th button seems to be a bit of an enigma. It seems to have a patina like it's been in the ground for a while and what appears to be a drilled eye shank, which is unusual for a repro. I don't have my reference book with me at work, so if IP says it is wrong, I wouldn't question it unless it is some unknown variant. Would have to have it in hand to confirm it's construction is period.

Steve, thank you. George thought it was real because it is very heavy. There is a ridge where the shank was drilled. Glad you noticed it too. The button is 23 mm and 12.9 grams in weight.
