~974 Wheats!

Yesterday on the way home from work I went to a regular bank of mine to pick up my Tuesday coins (it's a small credit union that saves all of their customer coin for me and I pick it up weekly). The teller pointed out some special penny rolls she had found for me. The rolls had dates on them and were very old. She said some lady had found them at her mother's house and brought them in. I immediately asked, "Is this all of them? Did she bring in any other denominations?" I was assured that I got all of them and that she only brought in pennies. In all there were nineteen rolls with dates (1934, 2 x 1936, 2 x 1938, 3 x 1939, 2 x 1940, 1942, 2 x 1944, 3 x 1945, 1951, 2 x 1957, 1957D). 5,200 pennies had 974 Wheats, twenty-two Canadians, one US dime and one Bahamas penny. That's by far the most Wheats I've found at one time. It represents about a third of the Wheats I've found this year and definitely skewed my yearly Wheat find rate and my all-time Wheat find rate. (My yearly rate went from .55% to .77% and my all time rate went from .62% to .68%, and that's with just about 1.5 million pennies searched!)

I'm a bit disappointed there weren't and varieties, but definitely am enjoying this find. I'm now wondering ... Are there any more rolls that she'll bring in? There are other common dates that one could complete rolls of, especially at this level. Where are the mint marked Wheats, the ones I need? Where are the other denominations?

The Wheats were:

1934(50), 1936(100), 1938(50), 1939(150), 1940(100), 1941(2), 1942(50), 1944(104), 1945(153), 1948(2), 1949, 1951(52), 1952D, 1953D, 1956, 1957(101), 1957D(52), 1958D(4)

Great score. Ya done good.

I love seeing the old coin wrappers.

Last year we had the Red Neck thread going and talked about collecting coin rolls / wrappers.

It is an iteresting concept.

People on ebay love the old rolls! If you sold them you could get a little premium possibly. That would be a fun find for anyone!

Nice score
Good thinking on asking about her bringing in any other denominations.
I can't tell you how many times I'm like a Deer in the headlights, looking
at a good score and don,t remember to ask for other denominations until
after I get home.
