Today I was hunting an old house foundation on the north end of my property. The area is very grown up and has tons of under brush. There is only a small area that can be hunted. First signal I got I dug down about 6 inches and pulled out this old printing press plate. The plate seems to be made from lead. It is a Colgates/ Palmolive plate that says take your pick Colgates Talc Power for Men or Palmolive. It also says 70 cent value for 39 cents. I have looked and looked and can not find anything on the press plate. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

I know nothing about it,but that sure is an unique find.thanks for sharing.

I suppose you held it up to a mirror to see if anything else might be read?

Nice find!

Yes and I can read "shave kit". I cleaned all the dirt off and it's a bit more clear. Most still unreadable.

Nice find dburdick! Wonder what it was doing on your property...

The area I live in was an oil field boom town. In fact the first oil well drilled in Osage county OK is less then 1 mile from my house. During the boom the population of our town swelled to over 15000 not its 250. Trying to research and see if the old foundation could have been a newspaper.
