A GOOD DEED & A FEW HOUR CELLAR HOLE HUNT*CIVIL WAR BUTTON

got a call today from a guy who lost his volkswagon laser cut key in the snow.$150 for them to cut a new one he said.anyways he picked me up.showed me the area near driveway he lost it.about 4 inches of snow.took me like 10 mins and bingo found it.he was happy as heck.
anyways there was a cellar hole near his house.i hunted it for 3 hrs and then he drove me home.
2 neat buttons.one is a tiny one piece no back mark.

the one i'd like to know about is this civil war era waterbury button co *extra* back marked 2 piece button.i believe the letters on front are NHC any ideas?

Dave,

Hey, man, it is good to see you getting out with your usual copper passion. I have a feeling that when the snow melts, you will be a digging maniac on the Connecticut frontier. :headbang: Keep making me proud, Dave! :icon_thumleft:

Kirk

P.S. I smell a solid silver shoe buckle is coming for you. Get close to the ground and you will get the scent as well. :laughing7:

Re: A GOOD DEED & A FEW HOUR CELLAR HOLE HUNT*CIVIL WAR BUTTON

Dave, At the outbreak of the Civil War, the Grays enlisted for a 90 day period of service as part of the 2nd Connecticut Infantry. They took part in the first major engagement of the Civil War, the Battle of Bull Run. It was this battle, which was a victory for the Confederate Forces, which the Grays saved the day for the union. Union Forces broke and ran, throwing down their weapons and fleeing in panic, while being attacked by the Confederates leaving the road to Washington, DC open to the enemy. However, the Grays led by CPT Alfred H. Terry held, and withdrew in an orderly fashion using covered fire to "Leap Frog" back, which cause the Confederate Leader, to think he was facing a superior well-trained force, to call off his attack. The unit took part in 19 battles during the Civil War, and at Gettysburg several monuments stand today in honor of those men and their deeds. Heroic Soldiers ! Awesome button U found!! Congrats, CMD
