A hunk of lead & is this U.S. a civil war rosette?

Friend & I finally got a chance to hunt a couple hundred acre field we got permission at a couple months ago.. After a hour or so of only old iron pieces of farm equipment, we moved closer to the farm house and barns. Still not as much luck as we were hoping but I dug this large piece of lead and what appears to be a US rosette..?

Any thoughts, ideas, or info on the piece would be appreciated....

dug one just like it on an old logging homestead in nortern mi mine has the backing but rusty

From the looks of it, I would say that it is SpanAm period. Most civilwar ones had lead filling and the letters were just slightly different.

IMO, the letters and the construction look wrong for CW. I think it is Late 1800s or WWI era.
