I was able to get my dad out in the field with me last Sunday for a hunt. The conditions have to be just right or he has trouble walking the fields and the fields we hit had just been planted and the corn was up about 3 inches so they were flat and easy to walk. Unfortunately they hadn't had much rain on them and were dry as a bone so we didn't find a lot and only got a couple decent in situs since most of what we saw was just barely visible and we didn't realize they were artifacts until we flipped them out.

Dad found 2 Points and a couple Scrapers. He found a Stemmed Point that is badly fire popped on the back and a little Triangle. I found a Bifurcate that would have been nice if the tip wasn't missing. I also found a small Kirk Stemmed with the tip missing and 2 pretty nice Scrapers. If we get some good rain we'll definitely hit it again.

Here's the pics.

That is so sweet that you take your dad out to hunt. I bet he absolutely loves that. Can you explain to me what fire popped is?

I'd be happy with those finds :tongue3:

Thanks Mia and Josh. My father is 75 and just had both knees replaced a few years back and he is in great shape. He is the one that got me started hunting back when I was very young (I found my first point at 6 years old and I'm 52 now) so I take him a few times a years once they get the fields disked and planted. He can't walk them right after they are plowed and are muddy though.

If you look at the Point I posted single pictures of just below the group shot you will see what I mean by fire popped. What happens is these points are either thrown into a fire, cooked inside the animal, or maybe in a forest fire and it causes the air pockets in the Flint to heat up and pop out sections of the point. I have some with just a few spots on them but on this one almost the entire back side has been fire popped off.

Good seeing him out with you again this year. You better take care of him and give him your days finds! lol. Yeah that fire pop is pretty common. Those Indians would light up several states at a time and create good hunting for years. They kept Tennessee in mostly grass lands and prarie until settlers took over. Another year another hunt :icon_sunny:

Nice hunt Steve! thats really cool that you and your dad go out hunting together, I remember the story you was telling when you were a kid and you would always choose to go hunting arrowheads when it was your turn to choose on what you guys would do. I wish my Dad would picked up rock huntin instead of fox hunting.

Considering tomorrow is Father's Day that makes it all the better. I know you all don't get out together that often so it's good to hear. Nice finds, btw.
