A newb's first try

Hey guys i would like to introduce myself, i am new to metal detectors but have been reading the forum for about 7 months now.Anyway i decided to give it a try to help lose a little weight and just get outdoors.I did a lot of research of old maps from my area and found enough old home sites to last me a few years. The metal detector i am starting out with is at least 10 years old(whites coin master 6000 given to me by a member in a club i am in) and i will be replacing with a ace 250 soon because the whites will pick up a nail at 2 feet deep but not a quarter if you hold it under the coil.Anyway here is one home site i found and some stuff i found just searching around.

Re: A newb's first try

Welcome and good luck.

By the way, the White's coinmaster is a fine machine, you just have to know how to run it.
You may want to have it fixed.

Not two weeks ago I went to a hunt with a DFX only group. You could bring a friend, and they could use whatever detector they had.

This guy shows up with this beat up coinmaster, and he kicked the DFX's hindends all weekend, including mine.

I'm in the market for a 6000di series three. I'm a believer.

If you decide you don't want that machine when you get a new one, I'll buy it.

Best, and HH
Ken

Your Photos look remarkably familiar. I found a broken toilet too but didn't see a date on it. Nice to see a fellow newbie out there. I'm a student at the Culinary Institute and MD after class when I get a chance.
