"A QUESTION OF SCRUPLES"

We all know you don't have any.

:P

You could detect them and if anyone approached just fake a cough and watch them run....

If they are city owned who would care? And many were built in 1800’s

Liability is all they'd be worried about. Print out a generic 'Hold Harmless Agreement' and fill it out ahead of time with an address. keep with you always. It might help you make your case for digging without permission on city properties.

Make a sign saying Covid 19 virus detection in progress and stick it in the yard. No one will come near! Be sure to wear a dust mask and latex gloves.

Ok, did that one yesterday
By the time they are falling down there’s too much trash

If I did it and got caught I'd feel bad. If I did it and didn't get caught I'd feel good.

I do.. although Iv had new owners approach and ask what Im doing, I say I detect bank owned property and they say we just bought this place and then Ill ask permission haven't had a no yet and has happened twice so fare...

a ton of junk properties have gone online for auction in my county.
They start at 1000k and have back taxes due
Am I correct that they are city properties?
Would you feel ok detecting them without asking the auction company?

Who ever holds title to the property is who you need to know.
Some may have caretakers of sorts.. Basically protecting the interests of the title holders.

I figure some one owns ,or is in charge of every property.
Detect accordingly.
The owners are after something most detectorists are not , (and the other way around) but it's still their property.

This could be funny. City authorities scrambling to find who's official capacity MD'ing belongs.
But if I were asked I would, in my mind, see a bunch of holes making the yard look like a herd of prairie dogs invaded the space.
If you ask I doubt you would find it acceptable unless who ever is asked is also a MD'er.

I’m sure they are all city and county owned
All have large overdue property tax bills

Just make sure your head is on a swivel and you’re not so distracted someone sneaks up on you.
