This part of Minnesota was not settled until the 1870-1880 so Seated Coins were not used common. In fact, there are five of us that detect together and none of us have found one. That all changed last night. Went to a old town site that was started in 1880's but was quickly moved when the railroad came through. The hunt started out normal with a couple Indian Head pennies (1880 and 1883) and as I was headed back to the truck I noticed a fairly large grove of Oak trees and figured I would give them a shot. After fifteen minutes and no good beeps I was ready to go so started walking towards the truck again and ding a good signal. 6-7 inches down out pops a silver dime. 1891-O dime, my oldest silver and a SEATED. I was pretty amazed. I circled back and hit another signal twenty feet away, same depth and size. I dug it up and broke my five minute old record with a 1890 Seated. Now I was excited so circled around for a half hour and got one more good beep, dug it and broke the record again. It was a 1888-S dime. It was getting dark and had a good twenty-five minute drive so off I went with 2 Indians and a Hat trick of Seated Liberty Dimes. Oh and of course had to call all four of my huntin' buddies to brag. I guess I am in my own Little Seated Club around here now!!!! Thanks for Looking!!! Todd

Thanks for the comments. I am going back as soon as I get done with my invoicing today. Which at this rate, will be done at midnight so, back to the grind. How does finds make it to the banner? Maybe these finds are common elsewhere so it probably isn't worthy of the banner.

Three Seateds in one trip! Wow! Like you said, you haven't found one ever... neither have I. One would make me thrilled... 3 in one day would probably spoil me!

three seated in one hunt and you actuall walked away? :dontknow:

Great finds but they would have had to bring me food to keep my tired body swinging as I would have hit that site till it gave no more. Even those huge Minnesota Misquitoes would not have detered my hunt.

Those are some nice coins you have there and thanks for sharing!

HH and good luck with your return trip.

Fantastic finds, I found my first sitting liberty dime a couple of weeks ago ( 1877) in a newer park that I think was a farm field.I am going to pound the heck out of that area and I think you should do the same, Congradulations and good luck on your future finds. I will be posting my finds soon. Art Of Fact

I got back out there for 2 1/2 hours last night and came up with 1887 Indian Cent, 1897 Indian Cent, and 1883 No Cent V nickel. Awesome to find this old stuff but I guess I was thinking MORE SILVER. Oh well, maybe next time

Keep going back and approach the area at different angles,Those deep dimes can be hard to detect but I will bet you theres more silver there. Art Of Fact
