Someone was just horsing around making an artsy piece out of an old horseshoe, I doubt it was to make the wearer more popular. Pretty cool though, lots of work went into it.

It was probably decorated and hung open side up over someone's door for good luck.

Is it iron or is it silver? It could be a especially made horseshoe with the designs, and made out of silver.

Nice!! It looks like it may have been made from a worn smith fitted shoe. Like Icewing said, the chain is for hanging open end up.

Welcome miniskirt, interesting find! Icewing hit the nail on the head. I can only add that the artwork looks like "TOLL", very popular in Amish country gift shops.

Best wishes!

Pretty cool, DC Matt found an interesting site, I guess if you wanted a memento of a horse you have owned this would be cool. Welcome to T-Net from Northern Virginia:skullflag:
